LANCO Dekontaminations Systeme für die französiche Marine

Working in cooperation with French partner companies, LANCO has developped a customized solution, to perform personnel decontamination of nuclear powered submarine crews, in case of emergency. The newly developped system is integrated progressively onboard the four vessels of the nuclear deterrent fleet.

The decontamination system is housed in a flexible case, approx. dimensions 120 x 60 cm. In case of emergency, its pneumatic frame structure is deployed, using compressed air drawn from the submarine onboard available network. Once deployed, the system is conceived like a tunnel matching the shape of the vessel. Hydraulic lines complete with showering nozzles are pre-fitted and already in place.

The crew goes through the tunnel, when leaving the contaminated area, performing the classical 3-stages decontamination operation, i.e. undressing, showering, redressing. At the exit of the tunnel, the crew is moved to the clean area.

During decontamination operations, the crew is assisted from the outside, by means of dedicated sleeves and gloves, acted by specialized, on duty personnel.

This new development is a typical example of the level of engineering integration reached by LANCO with its partner companies, located around the world.
